My wants are holy - They move from the primordial waters, reaching for life, stretching towards that unknown breath of liberating air, sanctifying this vessel and for that which I am reaching. What does this desire serve? What is it that calls these waters to Life? It is the knowing, the feeling of the realistic potential; the absolutely vital more-beautiful world that my heart, mind and soul know is possible. Orders, I gladly take from my Queen, Pachamama. Downloads I happily receive from my King, Melech Malchaya. And committed I stand, centered and relaxed into the power of the river that is my desire; my desire to build, with you, a world that we are proud to gift to our descendants.

Something happens when we say yes. Something changes around and within us when we show up for life and tell Her we are ready and willing to do the work, that work that is for only us to do. Something magical happens. The magic is not the easy breezy manifesting that spiritually blissed out folks talk about when they preach on going with the flow. It’s not having the Universe fulfill all my wants. And it’s not the eradication of fear. The magic is the product of the sweaty, grinding dance that each of us gets to experience with Creation. It is the gift of partnership with the Almighty, with the creative impulse of the Cosmos. We have a unique opportunity as two-leggeds (what the animal kingdom refers to us as). We are blessed with the brilliant light of the intellect, the profound pulse of the Heart, and the dazzling abilities of our bodies. And when we align these gifts with an open heart towards service, the magic, synchronicity and blessings can begin to lift us like a wind beneath our wings (thank you Bett Midler). I hope these words do not come across as patronizing or holier-than-thou. They are the product of a realization that I am within. They are the gift of struggling to understand how to birth a sustainable life of spiritual work in a society that does not recognize humanity’s unquestionable need for spiritual sustenance, enlivening community, relationship with elders, and Earth honoring rituals, to name a few. I do not have this process around saying yes mastered. I trip and fumble regularly. I push against and resist and fall into bad habits. But clearly, we do not need to change the fact that we are human and fallible in order to align with the All That Is, in order to say yes. In fact, my tribe, the Jewish People, has it inscribed in our name. We are the people of Yisrael which literally means he who wrestles with God. So may I bless you, may I bless us all, that our wrestling with this world, with ourselves and with the Cosmic Creator be a blessing upon the Earth at this time, when the individuated spark of the Divine that is YOU, is needed more than ever. Love to you. |
